Women with Disabilities ACT started as a group of passionate feminists in the mid 1990s, advocating for the needs of local women* with disabilities. We became an incorporated association in 2016 and we remain a small lived experience advocacy organisation.

Sue Salthouse
Sue Salthouse was a teacher and a feminist and a much loved community member. She was one of the founding members of WWDACT in the mid 1990s and became WWDACT’s inaugural Chair when WWDACT became an incorporated association two decades later in 2016.
Sue was a gentle leader who was passionate about human rights and improving the lives of women with disabilities. She advocated for better employment and education opportunities, accessible housing standards, and safe public spaces for women with disabilities. Sue was also passionate about encouraging the next generation of leaders. She mentored many women with disabilities and was always generous with her knowledge and time. We miss Sue greatly. Her leadership and legacy at WWDACT will never be forgotten.
