VISION
Women* with disabilities have equal rights and are valued, respected and empowered so they can thrive.
MISSION
WWDACT undertakes systemic advocacy to advance and uphold the rights to freedom, health and dignity of women* with disabilities.
Values
Led by lived experience
We are affiliated as a Disabled Person’s Organisation (DPO) and are primarily led and governed by women* with disabilities.
Feminist and intersectional
We aim to be as inclusive and intersectional in our advocacy as possible.
Human Rights Based
We follow a human rights philosophy, based on the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) and the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW).
Evidence informed
We focus on achieving the best outcomes for women* with disabilities by informing our work on lived experience, national and international research and data.
Strategic Goal 1: STRATEGIC ADVOCACY
Influence policies and programs to improve the lives of women* with disabilities in the ACT.
Objectives:
- Advocate for the safety of women* with disabilities to live free from violence
- Advocate for equitable access to health and wellbeing services for women* with disabilities.
Outcome:
Decision-makers implement policies and programs that reflect the needs and address the barriers experienced by women* with disabilities in the ACT.
Strategic Goal 2: INFORMED BY LIVED EXPERIENCE
Our members’ experiences are central to all our work.
Objectives:
- Develop member engagement processes to inform our strategic advocacy priorities.
- Ensure ACT Government consultations, policies, plans and strategies includes the voices of women* with disabilities.
Outcome:
Women* with disabilities in the ACT are meaningfully engaged to inform our advocacy.
Strategic Goal 3: SUSTAINABLE ORGANISATION
Strengthen our processes and build organisational capacity to achieve our mission and strategic objectives.
Objectives:
- Seek and secure ongoing funding to ensure the organisation’s growth and sustainability.
- Develop, update and review the organisation’s internal policies and governance arrangements to support the staff and Board.
Outcome:
The organisation’s operations are strong, financially viable and values based, so we are an employer of choice.
